Apple showcases iCloud, Lion, iOS 5

Steve Jobs, Apple?s chief executive opened the company?s annual conference for software developers and surprised rivals by revealing the company?s plans well ahead of time.

In a press release from the company, it is stated that it will unveil the next version of Lion-the software that powers Macintosh computers and iOS 5- the next version of the mobile operating system for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. Apple however didn?t provide many details on iCloud but mentioned it to be an upcoming cloud services offering. However multiple reports state that iCloud would allow for streaming of music hosted on Apple servers in the Internet ?cloud? to various devices, from computers to smart phones to touch screen tablets.

Micheal Gartenberg, an analyst for technology research company Gartner said he expects an Apple service would “provide consumer value, differentiation from what’s come before and a way of taking the market forward.”
