Area 2071, located in Emirates Towers, Dubai, serves as a gateway and a platform to design the future

Area 2071 hosts 80 workshops to ‘design the future’

Area 2071 hosted more than 80 workshops and 2,800 visitors from government entities, international organisations, private companies and entrepreneurs since its opening, in May 2018. With a collaborative approach, Area 2071 was launched to play a pivotal role in shaping strategic sectors and create positive global impact.

Abdulaziz Al Jaziri, Deputy CEO of Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), stressed that Area 2071 is an ecosystem that brings different players from around the world; those who share the same passion and vigor for the future, as well as seen as a collaborative space that encourages individuals to solve for significant human challenges at scale.

Area 2071 serves as a gateway and a platform to design the future, through encouraging creativity, fostering talents as well as attracting local and global partnerships. It further contributes to the advancement of vital strategic sectors.

Unique events and meetings

Area 2071 hosted workshops, panel discussions, meetings, field visits and the launch of new products, strategies and innovations.

The Area hosted international companies, such as Ernst & Young (EY), Microsoft, IBM, Emirates Airline, Techstars global accelerators, in addition to local entities, such as Dubai Blockchain Center, Dubai Chamber, Emirates Foundation, MiSK Foundation, Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), among others.

Future platform

Area 2071 aims to make a positive impact, in the UAE and the world, by providing a workspace that is specifically designed to enhance cooperation between private companies, governments, startups, investors and young entrepreneurs, to work together to shape the future.

Area 2071 witnesses several partnerships, between individuals and organisations, to develop new ideas that focus on key challenges, in various sectors, such as aviation, education, energy, entrepreneurship, technology, health and logistics.

Global and governmental partnerships

Area 2071 will host several innovative ‘design the future’ laboratories for leading companies such as Pfizer, Procter & Gamble, Ernst & Young, Emirates Airline, IBM, DP World, GEMS Education, and Al Ahli Holding Group.

The Emirates Airline X-lab at Area 2071 is the first of its kind in the world. Emirates Airline and a consortium of industry partners and stakeholders established an Experimental Lab to create new solutions in this vital sector, and attract global talents, to work on customised programmes.

Pfizer Laboratory focuses on exploring new business models and innovative treatment methods, developing their innovations and collaborating with government organisations to test them.

Through Wavespace, Ernst & Young aims to create innovative solutions to the challenges facing government work and to harness the quality of community life. It focuses on data analysis capabilities, community happiness, and consumer experience, in an environment that fosters collaboration and joint work.

GEMS Education is developing new educational models, curricula, and new technologies, in addition to testing them based on technology. On the other hand, DP World will contribute to innovation in the development of business models and future solutions for the logistics sector.

Area 2071 also includes Government Accelerators, which was launched in 2016, as a new government mechanism to intensify efforts, speed up work, and deliver and address the challenges facing government sectors. In addition, it includes Dubai Future Foundation’s Dubai Future Accelerator program, the Youth Hub, and as well as the ‘Services 1’, which is a model for the future of government services in the UAE.
