The gulf auto industry is at its down most point. It is learnt that in the last three years; this is the first six months of new vehicles? sales slumping down. The sales in UAE is the lowest for the first six months (since 2009), while the sales in Bahrain continue to be under pressure from the retail sector; though Saudi Arabia has recorded promising figures.
“May was exceptionally slow for car sales in the UAE, and the first ten days of June have not been too hot either with the financing being quite tight,” a sales manager with a leading Japanese manufacturer based in the Jebel Ali Free Zone said (to a local newspaper).
Countries such as Oman and Qatar have shown small increases in the automotive market; but Bahrain is the biggest loser with the market going down by 50 to 70 percent compared with the first half of last year
