Dubai, United Arab Emirates, May 20th 2012 Banyan Tree Al Wadi and its sister resort, Banyan Tree Ras Al Khaimah, Beach were overwhelmed at the World Travel Awards (WTA) on 30 April with a total of five award wins as well as walking away with two awards at the MENA Travel Awards on 2 May.
The WTA is known as the ‘Oscars of the travel industry,’ and the MENA Travel Awards is known for its ‘quality for excellence’, celebrating and honouring the best of the best in the tourism industry.
Banyan Tree Al Wadi, the desert resort, swept the board with four WTA awards for:
- Ras Al Khaimah Leading Resort
- UAE Leading Villa Resort
- Middle East Leading Desert Spa Resort
- Middle East Leading Villa with the Al Rimal Deluxe Villa

The two MENA Travel Award wins included a Silver Award, “Best 5 Star Leisure Hotel” to Banyan Tree Al Wadi, desert resort and a Platinum Award, “Best Spa” to Banyan Tree Spa Al Wadi.

World Travel Awards
Since the World Travel Awards launch 18 years ago, they have grown into a much sought after international awards programme that encourages healthy competition and stimulates innovation and creativity. WTA’s 2012 Grand Tour includes regional legs in Dubai, the Algarve, South Africa, Miami and Thailand and the winners of these regional heats will progress to the Grand Final which will take place in India on 12 December 2012.
