The Citigroup Inc has reacted to its recent computer breach, stating that the hackers could have possibly gained access to the bank customers? data.? The group said that about one percent of its card customers are affected by the breach; exposing their basic customer information such as names, account numbers, email addresses etc.
Citi Cards has about 21 million customers in North America; where the digital outbreak was reported. However other information such as birth dates, social security numbers and card security codes are not in danger as this information is held elsewhere.
The bank has contacted the law enforcement and taken measures to tighten its fraud detection practices. The bank refused to comment on this issue.
