CNPC to double oil and gas pipe construction

China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC), a state owned initiative is looking to double its oil and gas pipeline construction in the coming years. The parent of PetroChina is planning to lay 64,000 kilometers of oil and gas pipes from 2011 to 2015, sharply higher than the 27,000 kilometers built from 2006 to 2010, as quoted by the China Petroleum Daily.

70 percent of the pipelines added in the last five years were built by the CNPC?s pipeline bureau; and will have nearly 57,000 kilometers of oil and gas pipelines in operation by the end of the year.

According to the reports of the National Energy Administration, China is hoping to achieve 140,000 kilometers of oil and gas pipelines by the year 2015.
