Unveiling District One: Welcoming the New-age Metropolis of Mohammed bin Rashid City
District One of the AED30bn ($8.17bn) Mohammed bin Rashid City was unveiled on Tuesday, 28th January 2014, by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice-president, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
The unique metropolis boasts of a never-before-seen blending of commercialism, touristic attractions and exceptional recreational avenues. The Mohammed bin Rashid City has been planned with utmost meticulousness by Meydan Group to reflect a singular unity between megacities and the environment.
District One is spread over four million square kilometres with nearly six hundred hectares of open spaces and is dotted with excellently created man-made lagoons and beaches, spread over 21 kilometres so as to give the residents and visitors an impressive interaction as never visualised or experienced before.
The residential villa houses have been architecturally designing blending in contemporary Mediterranean and Arabic style statements and feature spaciousness as the most prominent feature. In totality, there have been planned 1,500 residential villa houses ranging from four to eight bedroom choices.
Mohammed bin Rashid City is expected to be fully completed by the coming four-to-five years (by 2018-19) before the start of the 2020 Dubai Expo in four distinct phases. The prime-time location of the city further accentuates its significance to the ever-growing stature of Dubai as an important economic figure in the Middle-east.
Mohammed bin Rashid City is less than five minutes away in a car drive from the iconic Burj Khalifa with easy road connectivity to the Dubai WTC (World Trade Centre) and the Dubai International Airport through the Al Khail Road.
District One’s inaugural function was attended by Chairperson of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Emirates Group, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum along with a few other noted members of the Dubai government and the construction team spearheading the Mohammed bin Rashid City project of the Meydan Group.
