The Department of Economic Development (DED), Dubai, has set up an External Relations section in the attempts to address issues for potential investors and educate and help them to expand their businesses in Dubai.

Enterprising is a sound strategy that contributes to economic self-sufficiency. With increased investments, the economy witnesses not only the creation of jobs but also the potential for exploring and implementing innovations.

As part of its role, the External Relations section will perform the functions of attending local and international exhibitions to meet investors and provide information on the business registration and licensing options available in Dubai. Understanding the critical role of investment and how it aids the economy at large, the Business Registration and Licensing (BRL) sector wants to go to the investor, rather than waiting for the investor to come to the authorities.

Saeed Matar Al Marri, Deputy CEO of BRL said the new section reflects DED’s keenness to implement the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to become proactive in their efforts to draw investment to the Emirate.

Saeed Matar Al Marri; “The External Relations section will strengthen ongoing efforts to enhance Dubai’s rankings in the Doing Business Report of the World Bank in 2014. A main objective of DED is to make it easier for businesses to make the best use of Dubai’s competitiveness. The value additions we offer to businesses in turn contribute to overall economic development in Dubai. — Saeed Matar Al Marri, Deputy CEO of BRL

The External Relations section opens a new interface for BRL to connect with the investor and build on the growing momentum seen across business registration and licensing in Dubai.

Saeed Matar Al Marri; The External Relations team has already started developing a strategic plan for 2013. They will showcase best practices in business licensing and registration procedures adopted in Dubai across various events as well as address queries from potential customers.”

Humaid Ali Al Amri, Head of External Relations said the section will serve as the official representative of BRL, connecting with investors across local and international events and meeting their requests.

Humaid Ali Al Amri; “We plan to participate in six different events this year and will liaise with event organisers to ensure our presence in as many strategic events as possible.” — Humaid Ali Al Amri, Head of External Relations
