‘SearchinMENA.com’ Boasts 12,000 Regional Subscribers

Silicon Oasis Founders (SOF), a wholly-owned technology incubator of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, has announced its partnership with MENA Network FZCO, a start-up company that manages SearchinMENA.com, which is an online business directory that offers B2B enterprises with online public relations and access to an exhaustive knowledge database in the region.

The brainchild of Eng. Salim Akil, SearchinMENA.com was launched in 2010 to offer a comprehensive interface for Arab commercial entities and enhance their online visibility in the MENA region. SearchinMENA.com helps small and medium enterprises create new channels to attract clients online, and build a vast network of products and service providers for Arab enterprises in the region. The database offers free registration for basic services and enhanced applications at a fee, on Standard, Advanced and Premium subscription levels.

Seeking the benefits offered by Silicon Oasis Founders to innovative business models, MENA Network FZCO approached the incubator with its bid for partnership. The synergy, granted within one month of application, will have SOF overseeing the operations of MENA Network FZCO and driving the growth plan of the company within a stipulated budget.

As a component of SOF, MENA Network FZCO will receive access to a wide array of services, including consultancy expertise, a broad network of companies and a free operating license. As part of the incubation process, the company has already gained the advantage of structured managerial support from SOF, which has further driven subscriptions to the website. To date, the portal has more than 12,000 subscribers from the MENA region.

Hans Christensen, Director of Silicon Oasis Founders, said: “Salim Akil founded the MENA Network FZCO on the firm basis of his intelligence and understanding of the business. Our team is looking forward to the healthy exchange of ideas that will come about as a result of the incubation. We hope to mutually evolve this project into an advanced business solution that is ideal for users in this part of the world.

Eng. Salim Akil, Founder and CEO, MENA Network FZCO, said: “The online business prospects are strong and multifaceted in the region, which facilitated the establishment of the MENA Network FZCO. As an incubation platform, SOF offers phenomenal variety and support to young entrepreneurial opportunities, such as access to a large base of partner organisations and training opportunities including Seedforum that provides intelligence on investor relations and business development. We have seen this positively impacting the business beyond our expectation.”

Silicon Oasis Founders aims to support DSO-based ventures in the seed phase that prefer co-investment for business models in the mobile e-commerce software, apps or internet technology space. The centre additionally supports technologies that require low investment and short incubation time from 6 – 12 months.
