Sheikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Fiscal Committee, announced that Dubai will host the premier international banking and financial services seminar, in 2013. Sibos is expected to be held in September 2013 and will be the first such event to be held in Middle East.
Sheikh Ahmad said that “While it will be a great opportunity for the financial services sector in the region to interact with global players, it will also be an opportunity for the international banking community to get firsthand knowledge of Dubai and the UAE.”
Sheikh Ahmad also added that Dubai?s economy is at its best, with core sectors such as trade, tourism, travel and hospitality are doing well.
While Ahmad Humaid Al Tayer, Governor of the DIFC, said that the banking sector in the country is showing a healthy growth expelling fears of new retail banking regulations.
Al Tayer said that the conference will have a strong, positive, and direct impact on Dubai?s economy in terms of delegates attending the conference.
According to the Swift, the company responsible for organising the event, they aim to make the Dubai event a much larger one compared to its previous edition events. Swift also added that the choice of Dubai as the location for Sibos 2013 is in response to the growing financial sector and increasing knowledge-based economy of the region.
