Record entries testify to increasing confidence among brand owners.

Brand owners across Middle East are flexing their marketing muscle in preparation for the most fiercely contested awards on the region’s business calendar, the Effie MENA Awards 2013.

As the regional version of the world renowned Effies (the “Oscars” of the marketing profession) the Effie MENA Awards is the most demanding of all business competitions in the Middle East.

Winning relies solely on the proven effectiveness of a marketing campaign. Brands must demonstrate the impact their campaigns have on consumers through clearly quantifiable, transparent results, as well as proving excellence in marketing strategy and creative execution.

Despite the daunting challenge, the organizers expect a record number of entries on top of the 30 percent rise in 2012.

According to Alexandre Hawari, the swelling number of submissions year-on-year reflects increasing confidence among the region’s brand owners.

“The Effie MENA Awards is a very tough challenge so the brands that enter must be at the top of their game and able to compete at a global, best-of-class level. The increasing number of entries proves that the region’s marketing community has the confidence and indeed talent to stand tall with the best of the best internationally.”

This year, the Effie MENA Awards are launching the Most Effective Agency of the Year award. This new accolade recognizes the agency whose client submissions garnered the most points across the board. The judging process is a comprehensive points-based scoring system wherein a shortlisted entry will automatically be given a base point. Additional points will depend on the level of the award won. The agency who garnered the most number of points is the Most Effective Agency of the Year.

The winners eventually go onto to feature in the Effie Index 2013, the annual global ranking of marketing communications effectiveness.

The Effie MENA Awards is open to all companies and agencies in the MENA region for campaigns that have run in the GCC, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Yemen, Sudan, and Egypt between July 1, 2012 and July 31, 2013.

The deadline for submissions is 11 September 2013.

Winners are chosen by a panel of regional and international marketing experts, and will be announced at the sparkling Awards Gala Presentation in Dubai, November 2013.
