Dubai, a real cosmopolitan city with its own unique culture, celebrated Eid with gaiety and fervor. This year key business entities came out in support of ‘Eid in Dubai’, which unveils a host of festivities to mark the festive occasion. Events include live performances and other attractions from around the world that promise entertainment and enjoyment.

Residents and visitors can look forward to events that features children’s concert at Modhesh World featuring Hala Al Turk. The Shoppiesta festival at Meydan will have five days of themed concerts and festivities, and Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre will showcase ‘Fire of Anatolia’ show. Other attractions include concerts by famous Arabic singers, Eid carnivals at Modhesh World, and fireworks displays.

Shopping malls and retail outlets across Dubai are organizing shopping discounts and offers as part of ‘Eid in Dubai’ event. The promotions will continue till September 10.

Laila Suhail, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Events, said, “Eid in Dubai is unique in the fact that it brings residents and visitors from across several nationalities and cultures together for one celebration. The ‘Eid in Dubai’ itinerary this year is the most colourful we’ve had since the launch in 2008 and this was mainly possible due to the unstinted support from private and public sector entities.”


The celebration starts with a giant cake cutting ceremony at 7.30pm at the Modhesh World. The venue will also host Eid Carnival on Eid days at 8pm. Eid in Dubai Concerts will be held at Al Bustan Rotana Hotel on September 1 and 2. The ?Fire of Anatolia? is held at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from August 31 to September 2. Shoppiesta, the consumer lifestyle fair in the region, is organized at Meydan Hotel from August 31 to September 4. Concerts for the five days include the performances by Nancy Ajram and Melhem Zein (first day), Filipino pop band South Border and popular girl band Mocha Girls (second day), Iranian singer Googoosh (third day), Indian singers Hariharan and Shankar Mahadevan (fourth day), and high profile artistes such as Sean Paul, Kelly Rowland, and T-Pain (fifth day). Fireworks are organized at Al Seef and Dubai Creek Park.

Dubai Outlet Mall has arranged an array of Arabic entertainment, dance & music shows that would begin on the first day of Eid. Vishal Mahajan, director of the mall, said that they plan to carry out their charity campaigns supported by UAE Red Crescent and Dubai Cares. The mall also has organized special sales offers and discounts as a part of the event.

Mercato is a strategic partner with the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment, plans to make the? “Summer in Dubai” an unforgettable event. They have organized a concept-based celebratory event that aims to promote Arab culture.

Rana Jaser, Corporate Communications Manager confirms that their efforts are to produce an unforgettable event at Mercato.

Al Ghurair Centre is another strategic partner of Eid in Dubai 2011. Their contribution to the event is through traditional and Arabesque mall d?cor that includes a Hospitality tent with traditional treats for mall visitors this Eid. The festive mood is further enhanced with retail sales and special discounts.

AW Rostamani group has decided to go with attractive Ramadan offers from Arabian Automobiles into the Eid period. The company aims to boost their sales during this period.

Majid Al Futtaim Properties and its other flagship malls?Deira City Centre, Mirdif City Centre and Mall of the Emirates, is in a celebratory mood marking the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan where residents, families and visitors visit shopping malls as a communal activity.
