In the Middle East, where the wealth is seemingly aplenty, what was lacking (so far) was a platform for fashionistas to exchange ideas, learn and seek commercial opportunities. With now Season 3 on, Fashion Forward seems to have nicely filled the void in the local fashion landscape.
According to their website:
“Fashion Forward (FFWD) aims to be the definitive fashion platform for the Middle East – a fashion movement that highlights strengths, inspires and nurtures industry growth and its wealth of talent, with the ultimate goal of driving forward the entire fashion industry in the region.”
“Fashion is our new petrol of this region,” Bong Guerrero, the CEO and Founder of Fashion Forward was quoted as saying to Gulf News.
After witnessing the opening day yesterday, we would say that Fashion Forward has become a much more than a definite fashion platform.
This is also reflected in the words of Dr. Amina Al Rostamani, Group CEO of Tecom Investments, who is the leading force behind Dubai’s upcoming Dubai Design District (d3), a fashion district.
In little over a year, Fashion Forward has firmly established itself as the region’s definitive fashion platform, offering emerging and established talent the opportunity to showcase their collections to a local, regional and international audience.
Fashion Forward includes numerous catwalk presentations from top regional designers, inspiring talks and panel discussions led by global industry experts and fashion academia, as well as entertainment, through a string of social events and parties.
Dubai’s top fashion event continues to enjoy the support of the top local fashion gurus, boasting an international list of clientele including KatyPerry, Jennifer Lopez and Heidi Klum among others.
Amato by Furne One, Essa Bhagoorwala, Zayan The Label, Ezra, The Emperor 1688 and KAGE were all part of Fashion Forward since season one.
This season will also see Fern Mallis, the creator of New York Fashion Week, as one of the speakers at the event.
The event concourse also includes an assortment of accessory designers in the form of The Garden as well as The Fashion Gallery and Fashion Cafe.
