The excitement in the air was palpable as soon as one exited the Metro towards the Venue. It seemed as if everyone was going to the much talked about event of the year – The Gulfood Exhibition 2013. The sea of humanity awaiting the entry to the 12,000m² purpose-built Zabeel Pavilion at World Trade Center, for the Gulfood Exhibition was testimony to the fact that this was as promised, the Mother of all Food Shows. With the participation of a 110 countries, 4,200 exhibitors and 50,000 brands prepare for 70,000 trade visitors, Gulfood is purported to be the one of the world’s largest annual food and beverage industry show.
It seemed as a 360 degree industry offering with vendors from all walks of the F&B and hospitality industry participating in the exhibition. From Beverage & Beverage equipments, Food & Drink, Food & Hospitality, Ingredients Middle East, to Processing and Packaging and Restaurant & Cafe, the Masters of the Trade from world over had convened at the World Trade Center showcasing their expertise at the Gulf Food 2013, which opened today and will continue until 28th Feb, 2013.
The Dubai Exports, the export promotion agency of the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai, will be showcasing the UAE food and beverages industry at the show. There are currently about 2000 companies involved in the Trade & Manufacture of Food & Beverage Products. It has become one of the leading industries in Dubai , with an annual output of Dhs4 billion (US $1.1 billion). Approximately 605 million worth of food transactions were done through Dubai Exports in 2012. Exports are only expected to rise in 2013, which is great news for Dubai Food Producers.
The Opening ceremony was a grand affair. It was literally a Red Carpet welcome, with hundreds of stalls on either side of the venue. The place was abuzz with vendors as well as visitors. Needless to say it was obvious how people were passionate about Food and its related industry. National & International Industry experts were also present as various conferences, seminars ,workshops & forums are scheduled to be held at World Trade Center simultaneously.
The venue is a foodie’s delight. It’s a feast for the senses with international flavours being the highlight of the event. Amidst the commerce and politics of the food industry, the diversity of the event is that there are a thousand cuisine, from all over the world on display, and 1300 chefs vying for the best craftmanship at the Emirates Culinary Guild Salon Culinaire competition.There is no dearth of excitement. Gulfood 2013 truly lives upto all that it has promised- one of the largest and most happening Food Exhibitions in the world.
