Google seeks to call itself ‘Alphabet’. Does it have a business arm for each of the 26 letters of the English Alphabet? Let us find out!
While most of us were fast asleep, a new Alphabet was being written. The Bible of the Netizens, Google, is creating a new operating structure under a new umbrella venture by the name Alphabet Inc. The new company will be headed by co-founder and CEO Larry Page. Sergey Brin, the other co-founder will assume the office of the president.
Google itself will be headed by CEO Sundar Pichai. The reorganising of Google is evident from the fact that Page went all the way to say that, “In general, our model is to have a strong CEO who runs each business, with Sergey and me in service to them as needed..”
Google, is being valued by the market at $444 billion. All shares of Google will convert into the same number of shares of Alphabet.
While we thought that Google is renaming itself Alphabet to have one wing under each letter of the English Alphabet, Page disagrees to say, “We liked the name Alphabet because it means a collection of letters that represent language, one of humanity’s most important innovations, and is the core of how we index with Google search.”
He further added that “We also like that it means alpha-bet (Alpha is investment return above benchmark), which we strive for!”
