The UN nuclear watchdog has acknowledged one of its former computer servers has been hacked. Contact details for more than 100 experts working for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) appeared on November 25 on a hacker website, Parastoo, which is Farsi for the swallow bird.
The message posted by Parasatoo:
PARASTOO IS SPEAKING . ITS OUR FIRST PUBLIC MESSAGE . YOU WILL BE HEARING GAME CHANGING NEWS FROM US FREQUENTLY FROM NOW ON. THESE SMALL MESSAGES WILL FIND RIGHT AUDIENCES WITHOUT ANY CRYPTOEFFORT WHILE BEING CRYPTIC . WE DO NOT BELONG TO THIS TWITTER-STYLE DAY AND AGE SO HAVE A CRACK AT IT FREELY HOWEVER YOU WISH WITH HASHTAGS , G+s AND ..PASTEBINS .
In the posting, the hacker group called for the experts whose details were divulged to sign a petition calling for an “open” IAEA investigation into Israel’s nuclear program.
FLYING OVER DIMONA
ISRAEL OWNS A PRACTICAL NUCLEAR ARSENAL , TIED TO A GROWING MILITARY BODY AND IT IS NOT A MEMBER OF INTERNATIONALLY RESPECTED NUCLEAR , BIOCHEMICAL AND CHEMICAL AGREEMENTS . WITH A HISTORY OF ATTACKING U.S PROPERTIES , ARAB COUNTRIES AND ASSASSINATION EPISODES OF ALL STRIPS ( PLUS SUPPOSEDLY-FAKE PASSPORTS THAT APPARENTLY WORK BETTER THAN THE REAL ONES ) , PARASTOO DECIDED TO ASK ITS VERY FIRST QUESTION FROM A NICE 18.104.22.168 AT VIENNA . FOLLOWING PERSONAS WERE FOUND IN REACH :
The hacker group went on further. Apparently it says that it has evidence to prove that Israel is indeed building nuclear weapons. It continued issuing a threat to the named individuals that if they don’t comply then their personal information would be divulged.
WE ASK THESE INDIVIDUALS TO SIGN A PETITION DEMANDING AN OPEN IAEA INVESTIGATION INTO ACTIVITIES AT DIMONA . WE WOULD LIKE TO ASSERT THAT WE HAVE EVIDENCES SHOWING THERE ARE BEYOND-HARMFUL OPERATIONS TAKING PLACE AT THIS SITE AND THE ABOVE LIST WHO TECHNICALLY HELP IAEA COULD BE CONSIDERED A PARTNER IN CRIME SHOULD AN ACCIDENT HAPPEN THERE . IN SUCH CASE , MANY PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO AT LEAST ASK SOME QUESTIONS AND PARASTOO WILL PUBLISH WHEREABOUTS OF EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE INDIVIDUALS ALONGSIDE WITH BITS OF HELPFUL PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DETAILS .
After such a threat the hackers take a softer tone. They state that they want to help IAEA “continue its internationally fair humanitarian duties and considering stuxnetizing nuclear stuff.”
However the hackers end their message again in a thinly veiled threat.
BEFORE THEY GET ARAMCOED BY IRRESPONSIBLE ENTITIES , WE TOOK ANOTHER STEP FORWARD AND GRABBED A TOTAL BACKUP . WE ARE REASSURING IAEA THAT THEIR CRITICAL INFORMATION IS SAFE WITH US AS WE ARE BROTHERS , HOWEVER , WE CAN NOT GUARANTEE THE SAME IF A WESTERN-FAVORED ELEMENT ENTERTAINS ANOTHER SIP OF MOTORBIKE&MAGNETBOMB COCKTAIL . A 9 INCH LONG LULZ-ERA PUNCHLINE DOESN’T HURT .DAMN IT MIGHT EVEN HELP THE CAUSE .
BUT WE FIRMLY BELIEVE ,BY NOW ,ONES WHO KNOW THINGS COULD GO VERY WRONG ARE MAKING PHONE CALLS REGARDING A FAIR GAME . YOU ARE NOT ANONYMOUS . EXPECT US
Though it may not seem to be the case on the surface, however, rumor has it that the group which claims responsible has a link to Anonymous. Based on the end of the message the hacker group laid emphasis on “Lulz era”, it should be noted that Lulz had “sailed away” never to be seen again. Further this hacker group though introduced itself as Parasatoo has not ended the message with the same name. It simply read “ you are not anonymous.” experts say that hacker groups leave subtle signatures, thereby it seems that it actually could be the infamous hacker group anonymous.
“In the recent years no hacker group seems to have the skills and the knowhow to hack into high security high profiled remote locations, except Anonymous” James MacNeal, a computer security expert based in Boston told Arabian Gazette. “The hacking world is confident it is Anonymous. They always were the crusaders for justice.”
IAEA spokeswoman Gill Tudor said the agency “deeply regrets this publication of information stolen from an old server.” She added that the server had been shut down some time ago and agency experts had been working to eliminate any “possible vulnerability” in it even before it was hacked.
The IAEA was doing “everything possible to help ensure that no further information is vulnerable,” she said in an email, AP reports.
