Italian firm wins Oman deal

Oman Aluminum Rolling Company has awarded a $ 385 million (Dh 1,413 million) contract to Fata EPC, an Italian company, to build the new production plant (with a 160,000 tonne capacity).

The Turin based engineering, procurement and construction company is looking to start production by 2013. ?We are looking at business opportunities all over the region, not only in aluminum but also steel and oil and gas projects,? Anthony Tropeano, chief executive of Fata ERC told a leading newspaper in Dubai.

This deal in Oman is expected to create 1,200 jobs in the local economy, with 275 being direct jobs.

The company is looking for long term commitment and permanent presence in the region with plans to open offices in UAE, Oman and Saudi Arabic.
