JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, slated to open at the end of this year, is set to become the tallest hotel in the world, beating the?333 metres tall Rose Rayhaan hotel. Marriott Marquis, which is 355 metres tall,?expects to open its first tower, with 804 rooms, this year, while the remaining rooms will be entertaining guests within a year and a half.

Around 25% of the rooms will be suites while both the towers will have a combined car parking facility for 1,000 vehicles.

The US$490 million JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, owned by Emirates Airlines, will have 1,608 rooms and will have nine restaurants, five lounges and entertainment venues. The Vault lounge will sit on the 71st?and 72nd?floors offering panoramic views of the city along with live music. Restaurants will range from boutique steakhouse to Indian restaurant, Italian coastal cuisine to Arabic to La Farine, an attractive Boulangerie and social meeting spot.

According to Rupprecht Queitsch, the general manager of the Marquis Dubai, there is an increase in the number of passengers and guests coming to Dubai. The Marriott hotel is focusing on conference business and is hoping to generate a large portion of its revenues from Europe, North America, Brazil, Russia, India and China.

In addition to serving the luxury business traveler, the hotel is also targeting the growing MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) market.?The hotel will have two ballrooms, 24 meeting rooms, and a total of 5,100 square meters (54,895 square feet) as event space.

Another 1,500 square-meter (16,000 square-foot) is set aside for spa services. Saray Spa is inspired from the caravan-serai silk route across Arabia, with treatments that are designed to ensure mind and body renewal.?Treatments include the signature milk and honey treatment, an Arabic coffee awakener, a lemon and mint body polish and pomegranate renewal treatment. For sun worshippers, an enormous pool deck on the seventh floor of the hotel is arranged with a 32-meter swimming pool decked with elegant cabanas, lounges and umbrellas.

Arch Group, a Dubai-based design and construction consulting company, designed the project.?The new JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai will be the first JW Marriott Marquis branded property outside of North America (after the JW Marriott Marquis Miami) and also reflects how Marriott International views Dubai?s growing importance and global influence.
