The Official Airline Guide (OAG) of UK expects the low cost carrier (LCC) market in the Middle East to hold 20 per cent of the air market. They observed that one in every five worldwide flight was operated by a low cost carrier. Europe emerged as the highest regional penetration with 28.2 per cent, which is an indication that low cost carrier would enhance International airline growth.
Two years ago, LCC?s market share in the Middle East increased to 10 per cent.
Popular budget carrier such as Air Arabia, which has 27 Airbus A320 on 67 routes, is poised to grow and reach 55 aircraft by the year 2015. The other Flydubai, which currently hold 17 aircrafts, will expand its operations with additional 50 or more Boeing 737s.
