Since being initiated in 2002, the Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC) has received a colossal wave of enthusiasm and support from across the region. This year, the MEFCC returns to the Dubai World Trade Centre and will be held from 3rd to 5th of April with even bigger attractions that promise to keep the genre’s enthusiasts spell-bound ever more than before.
This year’s MEFCC features an elite array of guests, events and activities that in its own distinct way integrates the world in terms of the genre. One of the most noteworthy anime studio entities Gainax which created the most popular anime Neon Genesis Evangelion will be taking part in the event and will have a interactive question and answer session with their fans with Hiroyuki Yamaga, the founder of the studio attending the event himself. Likewise, talented and well-known artists like Ashraf Ghori and Reydan Kusomo will be taking up commissioned work whilst also interacting with their fans.
But the biggest attraction that surpasses all these attractions is perhaps the attendance of the creator of widely recognised comic books – Stan Lee, who will be having an interactive session with the interested audiences who are expected to pour in for the three-day event from all corners of the world. Other noteworthy guests and activities include the presence of the eclectic musical band, Boxtones and Institut Français which is expected to showcase the work of three top-rated French artists in the three-day event.
Since the MEFCC is a double-genre event, it is also expected to draw in a lot of film personalities like Giancarlo Esposito and Rahsan Ekedal. In addition, those keener in the technical aspects of movies also have a lot to rejoice about in this MEFCC with several of Hollywood’s technical specialists also attending the event to impart the lesser-known technicalities of their much-awed profession.
The title sponsor of the event is Samsung Note 3 with MBC and Dubai Calendar featuring as its associate sponsors. Supporting sponsors for MEFCC are Attitude Enterprises, Hollywood Collections, the Gulf Technical and the Toy Store while its strategic partners are airarabia.com and Samsung.
