The anti-corruption committee is headed by the Kingdom’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the one behind the recently announced ambitious modern NEOM city project.
Saudi-owned satellite network, AlArabiya, the official mouthpiece, announced this news sending shocking waves across the Kingdom and the entire Middle East region.
Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, one of the world’s richest men, controls the investment firm Kingdom Holding and has stakes in News Corp, Citigroup, Twitter apart from satellite television networks in the region.
Experts view this as an attempt to consolidate the power of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman who has a say in Saudi’s policies pertaining to military, foreign and socio-economic. It is believed that the royals will be detained at the Ritz Carlton hotel in Riyadh.
