It is expected that the US President, Barack Obama will unveil plans to deploy 5000 US troops from Afghanistan by July. According to the broader withdrawal blueprint of the decade old war, another 5,000 will called back by the end of this year.
The President?s decision comes amid growing concerns from the Congress for an endgame in Afghanistan. Obama has sought to balance arguments from the Defense Secretary and military leaders.
“He has been working through his decision over the course of the last several weeks and finalized that decision today,” White House spokesman Jay Carney said on Tuesday.
The president made his final decision yesterday on the scale and pace of a U.S. troop pullback in Afghanistan and will outline his plan in a televised address from the White House at 8pm EDT (midnight GMT) on Wednesday.
