Cityscape Global has seen a 27% increase in opening day visitor numbers, year on year, as major local and international developers turned out to launch a host of new projects amid a buoyant real estate market.
Middle East investors were joined by those from India, Pakistan, Russia , Turkey, UK and more, hitting the halls of the region’s premier real estate event, running at the Dubai World Trade Centre until Tuesday 23 September, eager to learn about new projects and units released for sale.
A strong international presence has been reinforced by two new additional international pavilions from Palestine and Bahrain, while Turkey represents the largest number of overseas exhibitors, with 30 leading developers and architects joining forces to cover 2,100sqm of exhibition space, reflecting a 22% increase on 2013.

Cityscape Global Big Announcements
1. Meydan Group who revealed two new mixed-used development projects – Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City District Eleven and Meydan Avenue – a suburban mixed- use community development featuring parks, private schools and retail businesses.
Located adjacent to the urban corridor of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) and Al Ain Road (E66), the community will include two prime residential areas: 1,500 four-bedroom semi-detached villas for Emirates Airline pilots and an additional 700 four-bedroom units constructed in the Meydan Villas plot. The residential areas cover a total ground floor area of 450,000sqm and 210,000sqm respectively.
One of the unique elements to District Eleven is the launch of Kent College Canterbury – Meydan, a strategic partnership between Meydan Group and one of the most respected educational institutes in the UK.
Built around the British curriculum, classes will be offered from year 1 to 12, with students in year 6 and above offered finishing classes with an emphasis on equestrian training. The school will eventually accommodate up to 2,000 students; sport and recreational facilities will include football and rugby fields, cricket grounds and a running track.
The second announcement from Meydan is that construction has begun on the newly branded Meydan Avenue – previously known as Diamond Business Park – which sits in the shadows of The Meydan Hotel, Racecourse and Grandstand. The development will offer a blend of residential, commercial, retail and recreational facilities enhanced by the sports and leisure attractions featured at Meydan, as well as a comprehensive range of conference and exhibition services, as well as the new Meydan Arena.
Running adjacent to Al Meydan Road, Meydan Avenue will feature stylish buildings of residential apartments at each end, connected by roads, walkways and landscaped pathways to provide easy access to all areas for vehicles and pedestrians. The architectural design throughout the development will be contemporary, innovative and inspired by geometric styling and technology.
The Meydan Arena will be positioned in close proximity to The Meydan Hotel, with the Dubai skyline serving as a dramatic backdrop to special events and functions.
2. Government-owned investment conglomerate Dubai Holding’s Mall of the World mega-project, spread over 48 million square foot which includes the world’s largest shopping mall and indoor theme park. The project is located along Sheikh Zayed Road and is expected to attract around 180 million visitors annually.
3. Nakheel unveils The Palm Gateway beachfront residential, retail and leisure complex. The Palm Gateway – a three-tower waterfront living and leisure complex with more than 1,300 homes, a beach club, retail, dining and health and fitness facilities.
Located at the entrance to Palm Jumeirah with convenient transport links to other parts of the island and the rest of Dubai, The Palm Gateway comprises three individually- designed high-rise residential buildings – the tallest topping 260 metres – with one, two and three bedroom apartments, available for lease.
The Palm Gateway will also have its own beach club and park – a shaded, landscaped complex with a diverse range of waterfront dining and shopping options, pool, barbecue areas and fitness facilities, including a jogging track.
4. Dubai Design District to UnveilS New Masterplan at Cityscape Global 2014
Spanning a total area of 21 million square feet, the official master plan offers a preview of what Dubai’s new cornerstone of creativity will look like once complete, and insight into what d3 will deliver to the region’s growing design, fashion, art and luxury sectors over the next decade.
As an ecosystem for global design and creative minds, d3 will bring local talent and international luxury brands together in an inspiring, intelligently-curated space located in the centre of Dubai. The District also promises to deliver a unique cutting-edge lifestyle experience for businesses, the workforce, residents and visitors.
5. Emaar showcases The Opera District at Cityscape Global
In addition to a spectacular display of Downtown Dubai, Emaar’s flagship development, The Opera District, billed to be the UAE’s cultural hub. Recently, Emaar has added several new lifestyle projects to the 500-acre community.
Located within Downtown Dubai, The Opera District will captivate visitors with its Dubai Opera, a 2000-seat multipurpose performing arts centre, inspired by the city’s maritime history. The new development will feature luxury hotels, elegantly designed residential and serviced apartments, a retail plaza, restaurants, waterfront promenades, recreational spaces and parks.

6. Damac, Trump to work together on second Dubai golf course
Damac Properties has announced it will be developing a second golf course and related facilities in Dubai with the Trump Organisation.
The Trump World Golf Club Dubai will be set within Damac’s new 55 million square foot development, Akoya Oxygen in Dubailand. The 18-hole Championship-standard course will include a club house, restaurants and pro shop, Construction Week Online reported.
It is the second development for the Trump Organisation in Dubai, following the Trump International Golf Club, Dubai at Akoya by Damac, which was launched in May 2013 and is due to open in late 2015.
7. Jumeirah Golf Estates Launches New Residential Development
Jumeirah Golf Estates, home to the DP World Tour Championship, the final tournament of The European Tour’s Race to Dubai, today announced the launch of ‘Redwood’ – a new collection of premium townhouses (Redwood Park) and villas (Redwood Avenue).
With 75 three and four bedroom townhouses and 42 five and six bedroom villas, Redwood is the latest addition to Jumeirah Golf Estates portfolio of luxury properties. Located in the heart of the community, homeowners will benefit from a range of world-class amenities as well as access to two championship golf courses, Fire & Earth and the new world-class Clubhouse opening in November 2014.
