With the continuing disruption due to the volcanic ashes, Qantas airlines has cut back its growth forecasts. The Australian carrier had to cancel all flights in and out of Perth as ash from Puyehue-Cordon Caulle volcano in Chile spread further.
Flights to and from Tasmania and New Zealand have already been cancelled, while the earlier flooding and cyclones had slowed down the travel demand in the country.
Qantas had to cut back its growth to a 5.5% compared to its initial forecast of 8% growth. And it is learnt that the company is reducing its capital expenditure by 400 million Australian dollars as the growth rates are much less than expected.
