Qatar’s ace shooter Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah on Tuesday won the first bronze medal for the country in 2012 London Summer Olympic Games after beating Russia’s Valeriy Shomin in a shoot-out.
The Qatari olympian finished the competition with 144 points, 4 short of gold medal clinched by Vincent Hancock (US) and 2 short of silver medal won by Anders Golding from Denmark.
Al Attiyah brings the country’s third ever bronze medal. Qatar has competed in 7 Summer Olympic Games so far. The other two medals came in 1,500 metres athletics in 1992 Barcelona Olympics and men’s 105kg class weightlifting in 2000 Sydney Olympics.
