According to latest research findings, health experts claim that sitting down for prolonged periods (eight hours a day is the norm in most offices/schools) can prove disastrous for your health and longevity. Scientists warn that people who sit around for most of their day are 54% more likely to be prone to obesity, heart-related problems, and in extreme cases, even death.

Answering queries of how exactly they can avoid continuous periods of sitting as they are subjected to hectic work at the desk on a daily basis, the alternatives suggested by scientists are to make use of stand-up desks or otherwise, take a break from the desk by standing up and moving around for a while to give the muscles some much-needed exercise which is so important for the blood flow.

However, of late, a significant bunch of young office-goers have acknowledged the dangers of being glued to their chairs all day and have already opted to use stand-up desks, while some others have displayed keen interest in trying to come up with other such remedies to avoid the hazards.
