Middle East mega brands STARZPLAY and Sharaf DG enter partnership to offer free annual subscriptions to customers
Leading Middle East SVOD entertainment platform and powerhouse regional electronic retailer have joined forces to offer unrivalled content to DG Member Programme
Dubai based STARZPLAY, the leading subscription video on demand (SVOD) service in the MENA region, has entered into a strategic alliance with Sharaf DG, one of the region’s most successful electronic retailers, to offer a free annual subscription to DG Member Programme members.
STARZPLAY currently enjoys a leading market share of 24% of online video subscription and this year hit 1M+ subscribers across MENA region.
The company has attracted significant foreign and regional investment: a total of US$125 million since inception, from leading global industry investors Starz, a Lionsgate company; State Street Global Advisors (SSGA); and media and technology investment firms SEQ Capital Partners and Delta Partners.
One of the differentiating factors of STARZPLAY from others is the close tie up with partner telecom providers, to offer subscribers a payment method that does not rely only on online subscription. This allows viewers to pay for subscriptions monthly as part of their handheld device service plan.
STARZPLAY offers 150 hours of 4k content, with more to come in the future.
The DG Member Programme is an annual subscription that comes with a renewable one-year validity and offers discounted shopping across Sharaf DG’s stores in the UAE, Oman, Bahrain and Egypt as well as its online shopping portal www.sharafdg.com.This programme would soon be available through online portal in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In this latest partnership, DG Members will now be able to access the best of online entertainment including Hollywood, Bollywood and Arabic favourites via STARZPLAY.
Sharaf DG is offering its membership of discounted shopping benefits and a free annual STARZPLAY subscription at a price of AED 239. The annual subscription of STARZPLAY costs AED 480.

The news represents the latest move in STARZPLAY’s growth story as it continues to expand its regional footprint and product offering to its expanding customer base.
