Honda Motor Company’s Middle East wing will recall 2,698 Honda City and CRV vehicles in the UAE.
Arjit Basu, general manager sales, said due to possible defective power window switches the company will recall Honda vehicles.
Globally, Japan?s Honda Motor is recalling 962,000 cars. The recall includes 936,000 units of Fit, known as Jazz overseas, and CR-V and 26,000 units of CR-Z compact hybrids.
According to the Japanese carmaker, the defective switch has the potential to partially melt the window cover and catch fire, although no one has been injured because of the defect. ?We have not received any complain until now in this regard,? said Mr. Basu. ?In foreseeable future they might have a complain thus Honda has decided to immediately replace the switches free of cost,? he added.
Al Futtaim is the authorised dealer in the UAE for Honda vehicles. The company is recalling 1,552 Honda City (2006-2008 models) and 1,146 CRV (2006 model only).
An estimated 216,193 units of Fit (Jazz), City and CR-V sport utility vehicle, and other models in Japan will be withdrawn by the automaker due to the defective switches on the drivers side. The company is recalling another 255,766 vehicles in China, 297,000 in rest of Asia, and 103,000 units in North America. A total of 936,000 units are being recalled around the world.
