UAE Health Minister relieved of his duties

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has issued a resolution relieving Dr Hanif Hassan from his post as the Health Minister.

Sheikh Mohammed assigned Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais to serve as the interim Health Minister, in addition to his duties as the Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development.

Dr. Hassan was appointed the Minister of Health in May 2009. Prior to this position, he served as the Minister of Education in February 2006.

Before moving into a government role, Dr Hanif served as the vice-president of Sheikh Zayed University from 1998 until 2006, according to a profile on the Ministry of Health website.
