Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience defines city as a global fashion capital
Dubai officially joined the league of global fashion capitals with the inaugural Vogue Dubai Fashion Experience, a celebration of high fashion, held for the first time in the Middle East, at The Dubai Mall. Over 400,000 visitors from around the world attended the glamorous event.
Back in June 2013, Dubai had announced plans to become the Fashion Hub of Middle East through its initiative ‘Dubai Design District’ – also termed as D3.
D3 aims to promote the luxury and fashion industry, and will feature extensive commercial services for organizations and brands in the fashion industry. The new fashion district is expected to benefit emerging talent in the UAE and provide a global platform to promote its creations.
Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience, organised by Emaar Properties and Vogue Italia, also raised AED 5 million for Dubai Cares, the charity founded by Sheikh Mohammed, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to promote the primary education of children in underprivileged communities globally.
In a grand celebration of the global fashion industry and the style-trends, over 250 global brands participated in Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience highlighting their newest and representative collections. Proceeds from the sale of specially created merchandise for the event were also donated to Dubai Cares, highlighting the social commitment of the fashion industry to bring positive change.
